★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Aveiro has some pretty good restaurants, and many serve very good food. A Tasca do Confrade is a good restaurant and serves good food. But with my recent visit to the 'Tasca', it was more than just a meal.
The entrees were all very good - sausages and cold octopus. The menu offered a good variety of meat and fish dishes. The squid with shrimp (what I had) was well served (could have been served a bit hotter, but it passed); the cataplana with pork and shrimp looked great, and the 'bife a confrade' looked excellent. The big plus was the sangria de espumante - best sangria I've had.
And to top it all off - this being the reason of the title - the service was fantastic: the waiter always had a smile on his face and constantly interacted with us in a friendly way.
Definitely a place to visit again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a “semi” native of the area of Aveiro, Portugal..I have immense pride when someone asks me about this beautiful city, what to do, where to eat. So on my most recent trip to Portugal, walking through this beautiful city I discovered this gem of a restaurant. Yes very much in the middle of the tourist section of Aveiro, but once inside...forget the menu touristique feel. The food was excellent, the service was excellent. If you’re traveling to Portugal, and Aveiro is in your sights, then put a Tasca do Confrade on your list of places to eat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a fish(number2) which looks fancy but it doesn’t have any taste and later we discovered that it is not even fresh fish and my boyfriend had meat(number 7) and it was better than mine but it wasn’t the best nor deserve the price. I really don’t think they deserve the money they take for this food. Also they bring you entries without asking and then they charge you for that too. So you pay for cheese,olive and packaged butter 6 eu. If you can’t find anywhere to eat just go to mall so at least you can eat tasty and leave the table full.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stumbled on the restaurant by chance. After reading the reviews, it seems like a good place. Once entering the restaurant, it has a classic atmosphere.
The food we ordered were Seafood rice, mussles, grilled codfish. All are insanely delicious. The mussles with tamato based sauce are so good. The mussles are huge. The seafood rice is sooo yummy. The codfish is firm abd fresh. For desserts, we ordered the "cream of heaven," and coffees. It is so delectable. Overall, great service and memorable experience.
