A Tasquinha

Delicious food with big portion sizes. Comfy place to eat. Enjoyed the fried monkfish with monkfish rice (also had shrimp in it).

The waiters are not that kind and friendly, the place inside looks nice and typical, although the kitchen is very very dirty and messy and there are dirty dishes spread everywhere. It's almost disgusting. The price/quality and quantity ratio is very solid, the food wasn't bad at all: the sardines were quite good, the rice was a little bit overcooked but tasted not bad. The patanisca of Cod fish were a little bit too heavy and the least good thing we ate. We spent 12 euro each and ate a lot, the portions are quite big. It's a good place to eat typical food, at a decent quality and to get out full.

Good food and friendly staff! They also had an English menu which I appreciated.

FOOD was good and the staff was kind. They stopped us when we wanted to order one more dish, as it would be too much. At last, we could really just finished them and came up full. Recommended~

10 April, 2019 update: back in Porto for a one week visit and of course we had to stop by A Tasquinha for a meal. The rabbit was prepared in a light tomato sauce with carrots, peas, olives and boiled potatoes, delicious! Ham & cheese omelette came with popping hot French fries and dude of white rice, also delicious! Service is always excellent even with the limited knowledge of English language. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. 18 October, 2018 update: we're back in Porto and of course we had to go back to A Tasquinha. Today we ordered a lamb dish and a fried pork dish. The fried pork we prepared in a red wine sauce and olives. Both plates were large portions and tested great as usual. 2017-So you know you've found a good restaurant when it is packed with local folks. A Tasquinha in the center of Porto cross from the Cathedral Carmelita is a great place with wonderful homemade Portuguese food. Yes, the waiters are not chatty because the place is very busy, but they're doing a great job. The dining room is very cute with old world charm with wood beam ceiling. kitchen is downstairs and every plate of food is bought up the stairs to the dining room or up the ramp to the outdoor seating. We had the chicken in casserole for two that came with side of rice and French fries (13€). Everything tasted delicious and was plenty for two people. The chicken for two plus 1/2 craft of house wine, a 1.5 ltr bottle of water, bread, coca cola and one double coffee came to 23€, which is very reasonable for the quality of food and service. We'll be back. We visited A Tasquinha again on November 17 and this time we ordered Steak in casserole and Veal Liver with Onions. The steak came with a sweet & sour sauce, an egg on top and chips on the side. The liver & onion came with boiled potatoes. Streak was cooked perfectly while the liver was a bit overcooked.

Comforting and delicious food with large portions. Octopus rice and sardines! Staff were welcoming even though it was late service.

This was our first time in Porto and luckily we have been recommended this fantastic restaurant. We really enjoyed our experience, we have been welcomed very friendly, the dishes which had been recommended by the waiter were big portions and really delicious but also the wine range was outstanding. We can highly recommend this restaurant!

We tried the pataniscas de bacalhau com Arroz de tomate and it was delicious. Took less than 10 minutes to arrive. The waitress was very polite and attentive.
