So many issues with this wedding planner Isabel Dentinho (and the only other review is by her). We would not recommend Isabel to anybody. This review is pretty long so if you won’t read it all just know that this wedding planner only works with her select few vendors (she refused to with any vendors we went with outside of her "package" which was not made clear to us prior to signing the contract and payment), tried to drive up our budget instead of being transparent and saving costs (which we thought is one function of a wedding planner) and offered no flexibility during Covid planning (basically told us it’s our problem we couldn’t get from Canada to Portugal). When initially speaking with Isabel we expected to choose our own vendors and for her to work with them (photography, video, makeup etc). When my parents arrived in Portugal (from Canada) to pay the deposit, Isabel told them we have to work with her vendors, otherwise she’s not responsible whether the vendors will show up on the wedding day. She described other vendors as possibly unreliable and discouraged me from going with any vendor that was not on her list (although I inquired about reputable vendors such as Matt & Lena photography and Sharon Phillips Makeup). Her vendors (flowers, makeup, photo) did not include those recommended online in fact I could barely find their portfolio (and Isabel did not provide me with any of that information, just told me to look at the tags on her instagram) so this made me very nervous. Much later, when we started having a lot of issues, I spoke to other wedding planners and found out that they work with numerous vendors and coordinate the wedding day with no issues, and it's a standard service offered. Isabel constantly pushed us to spend more money. Our photographers Maria and Sandy had lower priced photography packages on their website than what Isabel charged us. And here I thought a wedding planner was supposed to save us money. When I asked her about it, she told us that “just for us, a special couple” Maria and Sandy will give us a discount (which made the price what was officially stated on their website). When we were looking into transportation during wedding day for our guests, Isabel gave us a price that was much higher than the quotes we got on our own. She encouraged us to book through her by once again reminding us how unreliable vendors can be and asking whether we would want to jeopardize the flow of our wedding day over some $500. The companies we looked at were very responsive, had good reviews online, and $500 was a significant difference to us. Finally, when Covid started, it became very clear that we would not be able to fly to Portugal and now it is even more apparent that we will not be traveling next year. All of the vendors were so accommodating and even issued us partial or full refunds. Isabel (and all of her vendors) kept ALL of our money (thousands of dollars). Even when our flights got cancelled, Isabel on the other hand responded that since Portugal was ready to welcome us, it was on us to figure out how to carry on with our wedding. There are many professional planners with much better communication in Portugal. Isabel’s fee was half of the other wedding planners so we decided to take a chance and in the end lost a lot more.

Thank you so much, Isabel, for making our wedding day looking so amazing! Isabel was so professional, organised and full of resources and great advice while planning our wedding. She made the planning process so much easier by her years of experience and expertise, with the team of talented suppliers. The wedding day was seemless and all the detail thought through, looking stylish and elegant!

Isabel made wedding planning only more stressful than it already is. If I could give her a lower rating, I would. Our destination wedding was supposed to be in September. We were looking for a wedding planner to coordinate things for us in Portugal and help us to stay on budget. Instead, we found that prices given to us by Isabel charged higher prices than the quotes we got on our own. When Covid hit, and it became clear that our guests will not be travelling anytime soon, Isabel refused to discuss any refunds. Due to family circumstances, we could not wait for a year or two to get married. All of our flights got cancelled, but Isabel said it is our issue as Portugal was open. Isabel kept over 3,500 euro of our money. You can’t tell us that any of the flowers, décor, photography/video services already used our deposit in preparing for our wedding. Our ceremony and reception venues were so professional and courteous to deal with and ended up thankfully refunding our money. We were glad we didn’t go through Isabel to book those (although that seemed to upset her as so many things did). Even refunds aside, working with Isabel was not a positive experience. Keep in mind that she will offer no flexibility financially in your planning process in this time of uncertainty.

Isabel is an incredibly professional and commited wedding planner. She carefully guided us through all the process required to get married in Portugal. Every detail was meticulously planned and taken care of and we felt completely at ease the entire day fully trusting Isabel and her team who had everything under control. She has become a wonderful lifelong friend to us throughout this process and we would not recommend planning a destination wedding in the Algarve without her!

Isabel helped me plan my dream wedding! I had so many questions, thoughts and ideas and Isabel was there to help answer them every step of the way. It's hard enough to plan a wedding in general but add a pandemic onto it, and I swear it is nearly impossible. Since Isabel was feet on the ground in Portugal, she was able to keep me updated with all of the regulations, what was needed from each guest, setting up testing in the hotel so everyone could attend, etc.. I also didn't have the capacity to interview dozens of vendors so Isabel was there to provide me with the top notch professionals in every arena. We even received so many compliments on our cake! It was not only incredibly beautiful but it was the best tasting cake we've ever had at a wedding and many guests agreed. The DJ was fantastic, Maria & Sandy - the photographers - were wonderful, the videographer was great, we loved the venues.. I can go on and on but truly none of this would have been possible without Isabel. I read some comments about how it seems like prices were higher with Isabel than if people booked by themselves and honestly - that's just ridiculous. Isabel is a professional who needs to be fairly compensated for all of the tireless work that she puts into your special day. Will everything be cheaper if you do it without a wedding planner? Of course. Will it run as smoothly and be as perfect of a day that Isabel plans? Not a chance. Our family and friends commented that this was the best and most fun wedding that they have ever been to and we owe that all to Isabel! I interviewed 12 different wedding planners before going with Isabel and trust me when I say, you will not get better service or attention!

Think about that person who never thought about getting married and has no idea how to organize a wedding, that’s me. Now think about a person to whom you just say the words “simple and unforgettable” and comes up with the plan for that special day you will never forget, that’s Isabel! With Algarve Prestige and their partners I felt like my wedding was detailed organized by a friend, someone who knows what is important to me. I didn’t have to worry about a think and the elegant ceremony I pictured in my head became real, just like that! Thank you Isabel for exceeding our expectations in this special day!
