A pub type bar, dark atmosphere playing rock music, reminded me of the Buko bar in Botafogo/Brazil.
Best quality burger, good drinks and beer!
Wonderful service, Joe was a dear!
I'll be back for sure and have my birthday there!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're in the area, I highly recommend a stop at American Bar for food and drinks. Joe, the owner, cooks all the food and runs the whole bar by himself. He's an incredibly friendly and funny Portuguese guy who has traveled a lot around the world and speaks great English as well, from living in the US for a number of years. I ate dinner there 2 nights in a row and both were delicious. Joe cooked codfish with a cream sauce & broccoli the first night and a spinach lasagna the second night. While I wad waiting for the main course drinking a Douron Valley wine, he gave me some nice bread with local cheese and olives. I can't recommend a visit to this bar enough for Joe's exceptional hospitality. Muito obrigado, Joe!
