Centenary warehouses in Praça Gomes Teixeira, Porto. Fabulous old-fashioned service as you can no longer see. High quality Portuguese articles. I was very pleased to see that there are still stores like that. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

The Cunhas department stores were created by the grandfather of the current owner.
They experienced a period of glory which made it possible to enlarge the premises by buying and merging 3 adjoining buildings in the 1920s by attaching to them the splendid art deco facade that we see today. But the creator's son, who had studied medicine, made a career as an ophthalmologist and, although he was attached to his father's store, he did not develop the business and everything remained "in its juice" ".
At most he had taken advantage of his material ease to buy all the block which allows the family today to touch the rents.
The son takes over the business and sells good quality cotton textiles made in Portugal, but no maintenance of the splendid facade is ensured.
To visit this store is to go back in time. The store resembles the downtown stores of the 1950s or 1960s, and the fashion for the clothes sold there is not much more recent!
We deplore all the same that this architectural jewel falls a little in ruin ...

Curioso.
What is really unique is the building. It is a mixture of art deco with functional dyes from the 50s or 60s of the last century. Curious.

Ver fotos.
A shop of the early twentieth century, which maintains its appearance. Inside it has charm, with those balustrades on the second floor and that staircase in the background. The attention is very efficient and friendly. They listen to what you need and offer you alternatives. The quality is very good. A pair of tablecloths € 110 (250 cm and another 300cm). In Madrid they are worth that amount each. Highly recommended and a great, beautiful, and practical memory. To see photos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are looking for the highest quality linens at great prices, you will have a hard time finding a better source than this one. And you be able to enjoy the experience of shopping as it was done in the early 20th century- no stacks of merchandise to paw through but the gracious and knowledgeable owner who will listen to your request, search out the merchandise you need and bring it to you. All in all a great experience, and everything is actually made in Portugal.
