Great space for ordering books, studying and even matching work.
Good facilities and very efficient and helpful staff. Campo de Ourique needed a space like that a long time ago.
Negative note just for allowing people who use sleeping space clearly on the effect of alcohol and drugs. The last time I went there were two rare birds ... one sleeping and one simply "atrophying". It would also avoid noise.

Formerly Cinema Europa, now a library was opened in 1958, with a high relief sculpture by sculptor Euclides Vaz.
Episode of Greek mythology in which Europa was kidnapped by Zeus disguised as bull so that his wife Hera does not realize.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small library without conditioning, WiFi access, where you can borrow books, CD and DVDs. It's quiet and there are tables where you can work. There's a dedicated space for children.
Minus: silence is not always imposed and phones rang several times; the collection of books is not huge (the library opens in the Spring 2017) and there are not enough electric plugs for the computers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Relatively new library branch, with a good selection of Portuguese literature and children’s books, and a tiny selection of current affair magazines and newspapers. Lockers, a small patio and clean bathrooms are a plus.
Sadly, many patrons are not up to speed on how to behave at a public library, talking on the phone, chatting loudly non-stop, etc.
Shockingly the librarians not only ignore this unacceptable behavior, but also do the same. It’s a real shame.
If you plan to work at this branch keep in mind that the internet is so slow that it’s pretty much unusable, so plan ahead.
This could be a great space for the community if someone in power could run it like a proper library, not like a social club.
