With TheFork's Back to Restaurants campaign, we decided to try the BOS 54 Steak Bar: a restaurant well rated in terms of reviews on the app, with appealing photos and honestly, how to resist a restaurant with “Steak Bar” in its name?
Environment & Location: 7/10
The restaurant is located in Monte Estoril, next to Jardim Carlos Anjos in a residential area away from the suffocation of tall buildings and with some surrounding commerce. Note the ease of parking.
Upon arrival, the first turn off: the restaurant is housed in a two-story building, with the top floor unoccupied, and it appears to be somewhat abandoned… As we enter, the fact that there are only two tables with customers does not generate the best expectations, but the that restrained our enthusiasm was even to come across a vertical chest, where we expected to see the different pieces of meat on the menu, completely ... empty.
The space is cozy and well decorated, at an intersection of American steakhouse with notes of an old butcher, with an impressive counter in the center of the restaurant supported by the other tables with comfortable bench seats. Music and lighting on point to which is added an appealing bar in the background, with the most varied bottles exposed.
Food: 7/10
Straight to the point: we were presented with a short menu (as we like) but we were quickly informed that the dishes would not all be available; there was not always the captivating Tomahawk, so we opted for all three other meat specialties: Chorizo steak, Picanha Black Angus and Filet Mignon.
To start, we ordered the Portobello Mushroom, a mushroom (huge!) Grilled on the spot until it reached the ideal texture, neither too soft nor too rough, drizzled with herbs and spices oil, tasty but contradicted by the excess of salt; we also ordered the Duo de Chouriços, a combination of two grilled chorizos accompanied by a fresh vinaigrette that made it possible to cut the fat from the sausages. We were out for a hard meal!
What about these three main courses? EXCELLENT QUALITY product poorly worked in terms of condiments, with the excess of spices creating a spice crust surrounding the loaves, which canceled out part of the natural flavor of the meat, which for a true connoisseur, kills the experience. We made the mistake of adding extra sauces and seasonings to the order, which naturally we did not incorporate nor were we able to enjoy since missing seasoning was not the case… The accompaniment chosen was a coleslaw salad apparently “to buy” that did not add magic to the dishes.
Finally, of the two desserts listed, they only had Chocolate Mousse, homemade and plated at the table, for a beautiful outing.
Service: 7/10
Always attentive and friendly service, from the reception to the friendliness, accompanied by good suggestions and detailed explanations about the dishes.
Price: 6/10
The average price indicated in the TheFork app corresponded, but in general, if it were the discount provided by Return to Restaurants, the value does not seem to be in line with our experience at BOS 54 Steak Bar.
Final grade: 6.7 / 10
In short: a great place, a great product but with basics below what we were expecting. We believe that there is potential to do much better, due to the location and the incredible quality of the meat. We did not leave completely disappointed, but we will hardly return there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you like great meat and a nice restaurant atmosphere, don't miss this place. The ribs, the bbq sauce, the chips, the steak, the chocolate mousse are amazing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good service. The meat was good quality and the portions were ok. Only bad thing is that the dishes come with a basic salad, so sides like fries need to be ordered and paid separately.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The chorizo steak was underwhelming - it is served with a tiny "house salad" that does not live up to its name. Pork ribs are worth it, but they did not say it came with a side, so we ended up paying extra for a side which was already offered...the lowest point was the fact that we were not warned that the vodka coffee cost 6 euros (compared to maybe 1 euro for normal coffee), and the size did not justify the extra 5 euros. Very disappointing that the waitress did not clarify this simple detail, which would have made us opt out of this unnecessarily expensive coffee...
