It's true what people say about this place. Café de São Bento is home to Lisbon's most famous steak, cooked to perfection no matter what temperature you like it. Served in a delicious cream sauce and crispy skinny fries on the side, this dish is truly the best steak I've had in Portugal. If you are in the mood for some fish, you must try the codfish strudel, the dish takes about 30 minutes to prepare but the wait is worth it. The pastry is cooked to perfection offering a satisfying crunch in every bite making it a the perfect accompaniment for the creamy codfish Apart from the food, the atmosphere in the restaurant is warm, the decor is tasteful and the waiters are very genuine and pay fine attention to detail. Will definitely be returning the next time I'm back in Lisbon.

Good service. Nice ambiance. Food was ok. Not my type of a steak but good quality.

Best steak ? I had in my life. I think is the best place for an insanely good stake. They have a rich variety of wines and the service is outstanding. The employees are friendly and they made the best recommendations. The price is medium but it is worth every cent. I can not wait to come back and have dinner again here. For me is the best place in town for a stake.

Steak over cooked, ordered medium but came out well done; waited 45 min; the worst is that they would intentionally give smaller portion, or half size steak, to tourist, it was the smallest piece of steak I have ever seen, also, we compared to a local person’s order which was expectation the same item but 2x the size) so need to watch out. I think restaurants, especially restaurants in touristy location, should not do this, to provide ppl good traveling experience to Portugal, after all, this is how they can profit in the long term, and not through tripping tourist off.

Nice steak but compared to others in Lisbon, I think you can get way better bang for your buck.

In general food was okay, but nothing exceptional. We wanted to eat late dinner, so we arrived in TimeOut Market before 11pm (over 1h before closing), and we already couldn’t get fries with our steak - instead we were offered a boiled rice, which was a pity. On the top of that we couldn’t pay with cash anymore, so it’s also a bit of a minus - there is no info anywhere, that after some point u can’t do it. We understand that TimeOut Market is a busy place, but this cafe for sure could do better.

Ate amazing Filet Mignon the São Bento way, with delicious French fries and a green salad. Great service, nice gentlemen who served us. Very nice that you had to ring the bell. You really have to know about this joint, otherwise you walk past it. But that's just the great thing! Thank you!

Ate Portuguese steak and I enjoyed it. I was expecting less but it was good enough. Although not from the best I’ve eaten. I would had enjoyed it more if I had french fries with my steak. I went there 1 hour prior their closing time and they were no longer serving french fries with the steak, but only pre-boiled rice which they warmed up for me in the microwave. The price was a bit too much I guess for the quality & quantity (12€).
