Situado no verdadeiro centro histórico de Silves, encaixado entre o castelo de Al-mutamid e Ibn-amar e a catedral gótica, o Café Inglês, mandado construir por uma figura ilustre da cidade, está inserido num notável edifício de inspiração oriental que remete para os finais do século XIX.
O Café Inglês é mais do que um sítio onde se pode desfrutar de uma deliciosa refeição ou de uma agradável bebida ou se o tempo permitir nas suas várias esplanadas se assim o preferir.
O Café Inglês é muito mais do que isso é um entreposto de ideias, culturas onde as pessoas são os principais intervenientes, em que a música e as artes, desde sempre foram a nossa aposta, de facto realizam-se regularmente eventos de qualidade, nas mais variadas vertentes musicais que vão desde o jazz, latin jazz, afro latin, Jam sessions que incluem instrumentos dos cinco cantos do mundo, entre muitos outros, expõem-se novos criadores na pintura, na escultura, na fotografia e nas artes decorativas, realizam-se noites de poesia que contaram com a presença de nomes sonantes da literatura anglo-saxónica, Peter Pagnal e Simon Hermitage, onde participam também poetas locais.
Tudo acontece de forma informal e descontraída num ambiente transcultural, em que o prazer de comer se alia ao entretenimento e à cultura Portuguesa.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well worth the hike up the hill, almost to the battlements of Silves Castle! Friendly and efficient staff, some interesting traditional dishes (try the rabbit!), good value, thoroughly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surrounded by beautiful Moorish architecture adds an interesting perception to the perfect pizza's, which have light crispy bases and delicious juicy toppings. The duck, served with cranberries and buttered mash potatoes had a strong gamey aroma you'd expect, washed down with a fruity house red. The service was friendly, relaxed and made you feel welcomed. We had one of our best dinning experiences at Cafe Ingles.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good sangria, but the waiters were terrible. They didn’t see us when waiving our hand. So we sat there for over an hour and got to do one order. Then is was nog clear if the kitchen was gonna open so we left after more than a hour.
Even when I ask the bill we had to wat more than 10 minutes…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant is near the ramparts of the castle in Silves. We had booked as it is only a small restaurant. The food was excellent, from a small menu. My steak was cooked exactly as I like it. The banofi pie for dessert was wonderful with proper chunks of banana on a crispy base. So nice to have a good homemade dessert.
The service was a bit hit and miss, but generally we got there in the end.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A cute cafe surrounded by history. It’s very closed to the castle and the church so after a few tours you can sit down and enjoy a meal. We really enjoyed the pizza and the fresh squeezed orange juice. After all this is the capital of the oranges
