★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La fecha de 1536 que figura en una de las puertas laterales dataría la construcción del templo actual, que fue después reformado. Su muy modesto y hasta poco atractivo exterior contrasta con el interior, completamente renovado en el XVIII. Si el púlpito es renacentista, del XVI, los grandes retablos dorados barrocos son dieciochescos, como también los azulejos blancos y azules que decoran las paredes, procedentes de Coímbra.
La capilla fue la única iglesia de Buarcos hasta que en 1581 se construyó la iglesia de San Pedro, nacida entonces como parroquial. Siendo así, es posible que la capilla sea anterior a 1536, siendo ésta la fecha de una completa renovación.
