★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful castle, with a huge historic mark, there are sign explanations in PT, ES and ENG, also a marvelous sightseeing spot, and one of the best places to see the sunset!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I just wish that all castles and medieval villages in Portugal were as well kept and maintained as Pinhel. First of you get to climb not one, but two different towers. Then, there's a nice circuit around the village representing the old patrolling circuit done by the town guards. Last but definitely not least, everything is very well preserved, cleaned and organized. To top it all off, we were received by a very friendly and knowledgeable guide that share numerous facts about everything we had to see. Definitely, 5 stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The castle is visible from quite a distance from the town and it is quite imposing to see the two towers towering above the village. The walk up from the tourist stop is steep but not exhaustive. Along the way look at the old houses and doorways and stairs as you walk past. There is an area with a water fountain and some stone benches near the entrance. Opposite the fountain are iron stairs that will take you along the guard route along the wall. Quite interesting to say the least. At the two towers you get an impressive view over the countryside and it you have the legs to go up the towers themselves the view should be even better. There are public toilets nearby and some restaurants and supermarkets if you need some refreshments afterwards. Well worth the visit
