Don't ever ask a Portuguese policeman from this checkpoint about the toll, they treated me badly and loudly. Insane

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pones tu vehículo y la tarjeta de crédito al entrar en Portugal. Pero cada vez que pasas por un "portagem" no te lo cargan en el acto, con lo cual no puedes reclamar en caso de error. Después de tres días de salir de Portugal, aún no me hicieron ningún cargo. Luego vendrá todo junto, supongo
You put your vehicle and credit card when entering Portugal. But every time you go through a "portagem" they do not load it on the spot, so you cannot claim in case of error. After three days of leaving Portugal, they still did not charge me. Then it will all come together I guess

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beware most of A22 and motorways are toll paid, in Portugal, but not all of it. As you enter Portugal from Ayamonte, crossing the suspension bridge, there is a Portuguese police post and toll payment area. English is offered as a language and for assistance. Advice to tourist spending a few days in Portugal would be to register a credit card with the toll website. You can also pay upto 5 days after travelling through the system via the website, but keep a note of the day and time if travel and the route used. Complicated
