LISBON CHILL OUT FREE WALKING TOUR is a great way to get to know Lisbon. Whether staying for a month or for a day, our Free Walking Tour will always fit in your schedule.
Our guides love Lisbon and they enrich each and every tour with their unique knowledge of the town and its history.
The free tour concept operates on a donation system. We trust travelers to give a fair and honest value that is within their possibilities. This 2:30-3:30 hours long, English or Spanish, free walking tour goes deeper than just introducing the famous sites: we tell the city’s history, with amazing and interesting stories and legends. We start off in Chiado from where the tour can head anywhere in town!
Our guides are interesting individuals with different knowledge and points of view, and will arrange the best tour WITH you before it starts!
We're an independent organisation. Any recommendation given during our tour is based on our personal tastes and experience. We won't try to sell you anything and we don't receive commissions from places we recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At a short visit to Lisbon, I wanted to have a quick tour to the heart of the city. I registered to a Chill-out Lisbon tour following a warm recommendation, and got a great introduction to the city center from lovely Liliana Cardoso. We got some history background, and a great city view. All was done with great professionality, humor and tons of energy. Even some drops of rain didn't spoil our joy of the tour. Fully recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our tour guides Jose and Katarina were fantastic tour guides and made our last day in Lisbon a memorable one! The walking tour was educational and entertaining. We were brought around the areas that you wouldn’t normally find just by following the typical attractions, allowing us to explore the beauty of Alfama. Would highly recommend the Chill Out Walking Tour!! Make sure to book a reservation beforehand. (7/4/22)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jose does a great tour through several areas of Lisbon. totally not the tourist perspective. If you want to get to know something other tourists don't join their tour. It's full of information and you get a perspective on the history of the city. Be prepared though it last most likely 3 hours and it goes up the hills on foot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was an amazing tour by Liliana. She was so knowledgeable, pleasant and it was nice that she stopped every so often to allow us to ask questions. She took us through parts of Lisbon that tourists may not see. This is DEFINITELY A MUST DO if you're interested in knowing about Lisbon's way of life in the past and present! Some of us had a small mishap; we lost the group in the crowd of the markets but we were able to call the office and they let us know where to find the group ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was on tour with my friend today, the 29th of December, and we had a good time with José, our Tour Guide. He gave a very informative historical perspective of Lisbon and the Portuguese people as far back as 5,000 years ago. I particularly enjoyed his view on the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, the reconstruction by Sebastião de Melo (1st Marquis of Pombal), the “onion story” in front of José Saramago building and seeing the Alfama neighbourhood. Oh, I learnt the new word “Alfama é linda”. I highly recommend this 100% if you are new to Lisbon and you want to enjoy the history of the place from a local perspective. Oh, it's absolutely free!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Maggie, Jenna & I were on a tour Friday, January 28th 2022. Jose was an amazing tour guide! He gave us a rundown of Lisbon’s 5000 year history in a very funny, informative, story telling way. He told us not just the facts, but the legends and culture of the different neighborhoods. He was very respectful of the locals and taught us how to reduce our negative impact as tourists. 100000/10 recommend Jose’s company! We laughed and learned a ton on this 3 hour tour.
Side note: It is not too much walking at all! There were breaks where we would sit!

He packed a ton of historical and cultural information into the 3+ hour tour that left me with a deeper knowledge and respect for the city. I would highly recommend this tour for someone looking to get acquainted with Lisbon’s history and become familiar with the layout of the City. Be ready for lots of walking, and remember to ask for their food recommendations.
