Couldn't visit the place, it was raining a lot!!! But it surely is a must stop with nice spots. The best place to eat Maria Rio, near the cathedral.

This historical city offers beautiful examples of the Portuguese ancient treasures. Only two hours from Lisbon by train , it is easily doable to visit it for the day and see all the important landmarks . The most important is the historical university which is the world’s third oldest university. The best is to hire a tuktuk in advance and hop on it and go around the city on both sides of the Mondego river and see the Convents, Cathedrals before reaching the university. The library is breathtakingly beautiful. The terrace offers one of the best panoramas of the city. Make sure to book a fado concert at Fado Ao Centro to have a taste of Coimbra style fado sang only by men in black robes. The old part of the city is built on steep hills. You need to be fit to climb up and down.

This is a beautiful town. The people are sincere and respectful. The small corridors, in Coimbra baixa or the old town part of is city, are full of secret stores and restaurants. The best words to describe coimbra is cultured, respectful, enchanting and historic. I found some delicious food... Toscha, Il Tartofu, Visconde just to name a few. Coimbra has caves, roman ruins, churches and one of the oldest universities in the world. This city is worth seeing, nevertheless, do not go with the intent to fly through the city. Restaurants and bars are hard to find. If you have a treasure hunter mentality, meaning you like find those hidden gems by exploring this is a city for you.

If you are looking to explore and you are close by Coimbra, do not miss this place. Coimbra riverfront city in central Portugal and the country’s former capital, is home to a preserved medieval old town and the historic University of Coimbra. Built on the grounds of a former palace, the university is famed for its baroque library, the Biblioteca Joanina, and its 18th-century bell tower. In the city’s old town lies the 12th-century Romanesque cathedral Sé Velha. Please streets, unique architecture and great restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place.

One of the best place to visit in Portugal. I was there in December and it was magic! Lots of things to visit, like the Coimbra University (very impressive) and you can enjoy a Fado which is a must!! Just walking around is a pleasure. The only thing that we should mention though is that it is not very accessible because it is steep and some streets (most streets In the center) are in stones.
