★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed at Covento for a little under a week earlier this month. It was a little challenging to find it in a first instance as you have to explore through the narrow and winding streets of Olhão, but once we got there, the magic started to happen.
As soon as you get in, it's like you enter a different universe. There is this serenity about Convento that is difficult to put into words. The predominant colour is white which makes it even more peaceful.
There are 9 rooms in total so it's pretty intimate. Our room was at the top floor, right next to the pool. While the climb up there is not for those not in good shape, the view and the room itself was lovely. Not like all other hotel rooms. They make you feel like you're at home, if you're home happens to be designed by an architect with a passion for interior designs as well.
The pool and the two rooftop terraces are just what you want if you want to kick back, take a quick dip, and enjoy the scenery.
The breakfast is amazing. It's different every day, with fresh local produce. Puts lots of 5* hotels we've been to to shame (who makes home made organic yoghurt?). And the two Romanian ladies that served it were always helpful and nice and we enjoyed chatting with them.
The other guests were also friendly and were recurring guests for the past years. It's easy to understand why.
Louis, Anti and Guillaume, our hosts, were lovely and very attentive and they made time to learn everyone's names and chatted with us with every occasion.
Convento is an amazing place. The care and love they've put into making this boutique hotel look and feel like your home away from home is remarkable. And you can see it in every nook and cranny.
We're looking forward to coming back next year.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband and I visited Convento for our honeymoon and we LOVED it. It's beautifully designed, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff/ owning family is wonderful. They helped guide us to the best restaurants (and nailed it) as well as navigate the city. Breakfast is delicious. Convento is the perfect place to relax, recalibrate and romanticize. Thank you!
One minor tip: don't bring large bags. You have to wheel them to the front door (few parking spots close by and you cannot drive up to the front) carry them across the floor and up narrow stairs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Convento is a beautiful, quiet environment one street away from the market and marina. It's central to the old town and minutes from the best restaurants. The room I stayed in was a minimalist dream with white walls, linen and floor to ceiling linen cloth dividing the room into different areas. The bathroom has a walk in shower big enough for 2 and two sinks/mirrors. The top floors has a small pool, terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas and two further terraces for sitting out and watching the sun go down over the Rio Formosa. Breakfasts are amazing and differed everyday with fresh fruit, meats & cheese, fresh bread, light fluffy omelettes and daily baked cake. All washed down with fresh orange juice, teas and coffee.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Convento is a hidden treasure in the centre of Olhão. At a walking distance to all the points of interest like the ferry boat to the islands (and the beaches), the market and the restaurants in the centre.
Guillaume is an amazing host, the rooms are beautiful and the place is unbelievably beautiful. There is a general sense of calm and the rooftop can be a good place to relax after a day of beach, food, sun and walking.
The breakfast is one of a kind with local produts, local fruit, local bread and home made cakes and yogurts (wow!).
This was probably one of my best experiences in terms of hotels. A place to return for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing boutique hotel! We've been travelling across Portugal for two weeks and Convento was our best stay. It's really beautifully renovated house in arabic style with patio inside. Little Marocco in Portugal. Rooftop pool and sunbeds are another highlight. Very kind owners and staff working in Convento. Highly recomended!
