★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a nice little store near the Intendente metro station in Lisbon. It has a great selection of vintage tiles that are all made in Portugal, that was once used for exterior and interior decoration. The price is great (between 1-5 euro per tile, with the most expensive design around 15 euros). In addition to the tiles, they sell cork (to put under the tile) for 0.50 euro cents (or 2 euros for them to add cork under the tile for you). The person working at the store when I was shopping was super friendly! He went through a whole box of tiles finding 4 that didn't wobble when placed flat on a table, and weren't chipped. I was truly amazed by their customer service, and I would happily to visit again in the future!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not really a touristy place. You’re not coming here for one tile. If you come here you’re probably redecorating your house.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A brilliant little shop. They’re selling original old hand painted tiles of which they have a finite supply, as there’s no-one producing them anymore. The range is fantastic, the service impeccable. I would recommend visiting before they run out…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This wonderful shop is run by two brothers. Their grandfather bought old runs of tiles from Portuguese factories that produced them in the 70s and 80s, and when their grandfather passed away about eight years ago, the brothers opened a shop to circulate the azulejos. It’s clearly a labor of love – they want to document the production of the beautiful tiles, which is not always easy. As one brother told us, trying to date a certain tile often involves asking someone who has that tile in their house when they redid their kitchen! Souvenir shoppers and folks looking for an array of gorgeous tiles for their own redecoration projects are the beneficiaries of this devotion. Prices are quite reasonable – most are EE4.50 or 6.50. Compare that to the souvenir shops in Baixa or Chiado where you’d pay three times that for a much less interesting item. They also sell a few magnets and trivets. You can browse the boxes along the wall and when you spot a tile, or two, or ten, you like, just ask for it to be pulled for you. You can also ask for a few to be arranged on the table if you want to see how a pattern looks.
One note – the shop changed locations in spring 2019, and it is now located on Rua Maria Andrade, just a couple of minutes from the Intendente Metro station.
