Employees did not seem to acknowledge customers doubts at the self-service till. Not only did they ignore my questions about card payments, they also failed to remove the security tag from one of my items. Which set the alarm off on my way out as a result.
Even though the receipt and items purchased matched, I had to open my bag and hear an employee saying: "I guess the water bottle is not the problem because it is from another brand" (Patagonia), when there was nothing left to be checked!
It was a very embarrassing experience. And even frustrating, as I noticed the same issue happening to a man while I waited for my Uber. But in this case, he did not even open his shopping bag, but showed the items and the receipt!
As a black Brazilian/Irish, I could notice the dirty looks from passers-by while I opened my belongings. Definitely not going back there on my next visit to Portimao, and being very cautious with other branches from now on!
