The Column of Pedro IV is in the middle of the square the Rossio and pays homage to Pedro IV, King of Portugal. Erected in 1874. At this time the square received its current official name, never accepted by the people. At the base of the column, there are the four female allegorical figures of Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation, qualities attributed to the King.

A central feature of Rossio (Praca Dom Pedro IV) is the Column of Pedro IV (Coluna de D. Pedro IV) erected in 1870 and after whom the square takes its official name. He was the 28th King of Portugal and also the first Emperor of Brazil, as Peter I. At the top of a 75-foot (~ 23 metres) Corinthian column is an imposing bronze statue of King Dom Pedro IV shown standing in uniform and royal cloak, his head crowned in laurels, and holding the Constitutional Charter of 1826 in his right hand. At the foot of the column are allegorical images representing Right, Courage, Restraint and Wisdom and at the column's base, there are the four female allegorical figures of Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation, qualities attributed to the King. It's an attractive monument and square to visit.

It’s one of the most beautiful park in lisbon Portugal. Especially on holidays, everyone comes here. There are many plants in this park which are very beautiful to look at.If you come in the city of Lisbon, Portugal, you must visit this park.I hope you also like this place. Many fairs are held here during holidays and Christmas. There are many old buildings around This park that highlight the heritage of Portugal. A fountain and two sculptures increase the beauty of this park. Rallies are seen here at various festivals. It is very nice to see the view of this park from the plane because the bottom of this park is very beautifully designed. Many pigeons can be seen here during the day. There are many restaurants and grocery shops next to the park. People of different professions come here and give a lot of entertainment. This is a 19th century construction of the King Pedro IV. It is located in a prominent spot, in Rossio Square. This one of the park ever I seen.I also want to go there once again.?

A nice square with 2 water features and the tall pillar. The unusual thing is the Portuguese paving pattern looks like the ground is in ridges and not level.

One of the interesting things to see at Rossio in Lisbon is the Column of Pedro IV located in the centre of the square. This monument was erected at this location in 1870, replacing an earlier monument to Peter IV which was scraped in the 1860s. The landmark is 23 metres high and features a bronze statue of Peter IV, King of Portugal and the first Emperor of Brazil, standing in uniform and royal cloak. He is holding the book in his right hand. The statue is atop a Corinthian style column and square shaped base, surrounded by an allegorical corner figures representing Justice, Wisdom, Strength and Moderation. Overall, this is an attractive monument that is well placed at Rossio. Flanked to the north and south of the square by Baroque style fountains, the Column of Pedro IV contributes to this atmospheric location in the centre of Lisbon.

This column stand sin tribute to King Pedro IV of Portugal of the royal house of Braganza. His legacy was to lead the independence of Brazil from the then Portuguese Empire and becoming the Emperor of Brazil through it's early and turbulent birth, but ultimately abdicating. The statue stands atop a 23 metres high corinthian column and depicts the king wearing a general's uniform with a cloak, his head crowned in laurels, and holding the Constitutional Charter of 1826 in his right hand. At the base of the column are the four female allegorical figures of Justice, Wisdom, Strength, and Moderation. Qualities supposedly of the King.
