I really liked the visit to the eco-factory. An excellent guide - Sofia, with enthusiasm and charm, told us about the history, traditions, natural heritage of the cork oak.

Very friendly guide who speaks German, English, Portuguese and French. However, the tour was not very interactive and only the processing of the cork could be seen by hand.

Very interesting tour regarding the extraction and processing of cork. I had booked and confirmed the tour by phone two days earlier. After arriving at 10 a.m. the tour almost didn't seem to take place as no one was there and Sofia could not be reached by phone. However, the workers were very helpful and mediated despite language problems. A little later Belinda rushed over and told a lot of interesting things about the extraction and processing of cork. Now I see cork with different eyes. The tour is definitely recommended, but a telephone registration is advisable.

Visiting the factory when there is no one on duty takes away a bit of the experience. This factory focuses on the first process steps of cork industry, so the visitor should not expect to see the production of items like wine bottle corks. The guide was very nice and knew a lot about the topic. I would recommend the visit, although I do believe it is overpriced (it costs 11.5 euros per person).

The subject is fascinating and I would like to give Eco-cork a better review but I can’t. We called, set up a tour, and when we showed up the tour guide only spoke French. We called and rebooked and we were assured that the guide would speak English. We arrived the second time. The guide was bi-lingual but the preponderance of the group were non-English speaking and the guide indicated to us she didn’t have time to give the tour in both languages. So we tagged along to see the factory and watch the cork being processed. We were not charged which is why I gave as high a ranking as I did. Tips: reconfirm your booking the day of your tour. Insist on knowing if there is a group already scheduled the day of your booking and find out if they speak your language. It would have been nice to have gone out into a field and seen cork trees up close; that is not part of the experience.

Must be a hit and miss type of event from reading other reviews but our tour was guided by a lovely girl who unfortunately spoke very limited english, gave us minimal information about the harvesting and processing of cork (I had a previous tour from outside Lisbon to compare it to). The tour was supposed to last over an hour and we finished after a painful 30 minutes. We were then taken to a small gift shop. Prior to booking, I would ensure that the guide has a command of the preferred language and that they are knowledgeable. Not good value for the money.
