The seat of the rectorate of the University of Aveiro, within the plan drawn up by Nuno Portas, was designed by the architect Gonçalo Sousa Byrne (Alcobaça, 6 December 1941), one of the main exponents of the so-called "Porto School", between 1992 and 1998.
