★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I mean look...people will tell you it’s a must visit. It’s not. The end of line in either direction is. The towns are what you want. This gets you there and the tickets are easy to get. But don’t do it for the ride.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Outside of the season, the ticket office is closed and a remote sign indicates that the driver sells tickets; but he is sitted and in great conversation with a cleaning employee, and cannot be identified as the driver. As the door of the funicular is open, we get in, thinking that we pay when the driver will come in, and there, the man talking with the woman on the other side , calls us as if we had tried to free up! When returning down, a passenger stands near the driver with whom she converses.
So be careful in Portugal, because things are not always clearly indicated, or not like in the rest of Europe .
And people are shouting at you as soon as you make the smallest mistake that, as a tourist, you can commit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A bit of queue, to be reached by foot, not well indicated. But very useful and cheap 1.25 eur)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect! Just buy the week card (“mar”) for €9,50 and GO up & DOWN as often as you wish (even if you are not staying A whole week). It’s very pleasant to stay upstairs (in ‘Sitio da Nazaré). Much more relaxed, more quiet then in the (very) crowded town in Summer. From sitio you also enjoy the early morning view on the Sea & Nazare.. walks to the lighthouse & the north beach. And in Just A few minutes you are down With the Ascensor to have A drink, A restaurant, the beach etc! No need for A car. Everything on walking distance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To go for a small trip between the Sitio da Nazaré and the town of Nazaré, or the other way around, this is the fastest and beautiful way to do it.
The view from it is amazing and once you arrive to Sitio, the view to the town is gorgeous.
The trip takes around 3 minutes and the price is 3€ for an adult, 2€ for a child.
At the top and the bottom you have toilets, just in case you have afraid. ??
It has been opened on the 28th July 1889 and it has an inclination of 42%.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A good way for people to get from south part of Nazare to the north one, but id recommend going just one way (up) as going down takes maybe two minutes longer.
Prices arent as low as you'd expect of something that is basically and elevator.
- 1.5e one way
- 2.9e round
There is nothing much to be seen from the elevator itself. The best view is on the top balcony.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The ride itself is very nice.
The reason I gave 4 starts instead of 5 is that the elevator was closed a couple of days , I was with it one day before it gets closed, this is not the problem, the issue is that on the announcement was mentioned that the last day is on the 7th but on the 8th was still closed

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Local service, saving time and energy for few euros. You will see beautiful view and uptown. But go down with stairs to see the swing too.
