★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Très belle excursion, à visiter avec de bonnes chaussures car malgré le fait que la ville paraisse Petite, les pas s'enchaînent sans fin tant il y a de choses à voir et à faire. Un plan détaillé est disponible à l'Office du tourisme. Bonne visite.

De Mumadona diz-se que foi a fundadora de Guimarães. Na segunda metade do século X, aquando da morte do seu marido o Conde Hermenegildo e de acordo com o desejo do mesmo expresso em testamento, esta rica condessa mandou erigir, na então Quintana de Vimaranes um Mosteiro, em torno do qual se desenvolveu o burgo vimaranense. Posteriormente para a proteção deste mosteiro e das suas gentes, ordenou a construção de uma fortificação (Castelo de Guimarães).
Estátua situa-se na praça com o seu nome, sendo da autoria de Álvaro Brée.
Foi oferecida por António de Oliveira Salazar, tendo sido inaugurada em 1960, pelo então Presidente da República, Almirante Américo Tomaz.
