About Extra Surf School
The Extra Surf School comes to Ericeira as a partner of the prestigious surf brand Rip Curl.
We were the first surf school with a surf shop in Ericeira, in front of São Sebastião Beach, to satisfy all the needs of the surfers who came to this wonderful village. Since 2019, we have been fully committed to the surf school only.
Founded by Vasco Dias, a local surfer, Extra Surf School is based on his more than 30 years of surfing background and knowledge. Vasco’s passion and knowledge of surfing will come across in your surf lesson and you get that expert instruction and excitement.
This is a surf school that was born to teach you to face all the challenges and make Surf an integral part of your life.
We want surf to become the battery charger that will leave you healthy and light day by day.
With the long experience and knowledge of surfing, we have managed to maintain the values that we want to have in our surf classes, differentiating ourselves from the other schools. We are of the oldest schools in Ericeira, which continues to work with small groups and different surfing levels.
We are demanding our team's choice so we can provide the best surfing lessons in Ericeira.

Six lessons with Vasco were enough to learn the basics of surfing, he is a wonderful teacher and a great person that makes you feel comfortable from the first moment. The attention he gave to our lessons was awesome: he has a personal spot on the beach to make you learn in a calm place, he gave me a lot of tips and suggestions and share his contagious passion for this sport.
I also had the pleasure to meet his beautiful daughters, Maggie is a teacher as well and she is a great surf style too.
Vasco for sure we will see each other again! :)

Every surf school has it’s dedicated place on the beach, and that of Extra Surf is one of the best for catching waves (and located very conveniently in the center of Ericeira, next to a parking place). Vasco has multiple decades of experience as a surfer and as a teacher. His proficiency in English is stunning. I’m looking forward to coming back in spring!

Vasco is super responsive over WhatsApp - I was able to organise all my lessons before even flying out to Lisbon. I had quite a few questions and he answered every one of them.
He's extremely knowledgeable and a proper surfing pro.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing service and professional help. While most surf rentals where very busy with long waiting times , Vasco came and dropped the equipment personally at the beach for me. He also gave Some great tips about the best spot and time to go in, and even gave me a lift back to my van! ? 10/10

As someone who has never touched a surf board before, Vasco taught me all the surf theoretical and practical basics and coached me to get me on the board while supporting me in the water and providing very useful tips ( i managed to get on the board from my very first session ?)
In a nutshell: Dedicated, professional, personalized experience, genuine, EXPERT and a lot of fun vibes ! Can’t wait to go back, absolutely recommend it
