A rien!
Bref...
What is the Portuguese Folklore Federation for?
To nothing!
For them, the only folklore that should be represented is that from before the 19th century!
Anything after 1920, including musical instruments, is prohibited.
For these gentlemen, the time of folklore ended in the 19th century.
They invented the Ethnographic side to make a scenography like a musical, as if to give letters of nobility!
Are these gentlemen aware that there are groups which were created much later, which have traditions and which represent them well!?
Do they know that today the fabrics that made up the costumes are no longer found, and must be replaced by other similar materials?!
That musical instruments such as accordions or concertinas are all for the most part instruments of the modern era, which are much more musical, reliable and light and also because all this is not easily found.
Just like certain essential accessories for everyday life such as glasses.
As much on certain points, I can agree (piercing, make-up etc...) But folklore today, it is very complicated to have people who invest themselves thoroughly.
Above all, people want to have fun, see people, socialize with other groups and share a common passion.
If we want our future generations to continue to perpetuate our traditions, the FFP will have to put some water in its wine.
Being myself responsible for a folk group in France since 1983, we have nothing to be ashamed of our performances.
If the Federation wants to impose rules very well, but that it imposes them on its members.
For the rest, apart from pissing people off, the Federation is absolutely useless.
Attached, what the Federation requires from folk groups signed by one of their Advisor Mr Carlos M.Saraiva!!! It's madness...
