 Excellent views of Porto. Historic site, in this place there will have been a Castro settlement. In the Middle Ages the castle of Gaya existed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A área no topo da elevação do antigo Castelo de Gaia encontra-se encerrada, sendo que já não é possível subir ao topo do mesmo. No entanto ao longo da elevação podemos desfrutar de uma belíssima vista panorâmica para a cidade do Porto e de Gaia.
The area at the top of the elevation of the old Castelo de Gaia is closed, and it is no longer possible to climb to the top of it. However, along the elevation, we can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Porto and Gaia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gaia teve um castelo até ao século XIV. Foi assaltado e desmantelado pelas gentes do Porto durante a Crise de 1383-85, quando o Porto tomou voz pelo Mestre de Avis e Gaia apoiou D. Beatriz. As ruínas foram mandadas apear pelo rei D. Manuel I. O local, contudo, ainda é um sítio arqueológico e um interessante miradouro sobre a cidade, com vistas magníficas.
Gaia had a castle until the 14th century. It was assaulted and dismantled by the people of Porto during the Crisis of 1383-85, when Porto took a voice by Mestre de Avis and Gaia supported D. Beatriz. The ruins were ordered to be dismounted by King D. Manuel I. The site, however, is still an archaeological site and an interesting viewpoint over the city, with magnificent views.

Fundamental place in the History of Vila Nova de Gaia. Breathtaking view over Porto. It deserved better treatment and dissemination, given its historical importance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly no Castle is preserved nor anything explaining the vast history of this place. Many archaeological digs are occurring in this area and have showed amazing results. Still got amazing views to Porto.
