I am a very experienced fulltime bicycletourist and was in Quarteira for several weeks. - Bicyclelanes are blocked by cars everywhere (even longterm by townworkers). - The bicylelane along then 4-lane mainroad is blocked everytime a car nears it from a sidestraat. The drivers in this town simply don't stop for any cyclist whatever the rules are. - Bicyclelanes are colored green, red or gray. Any color will do. So any interpretation wiil do. - All cyclelane-symbols on the tarmac are completely worn away. They are supposed to be white but are very "tarmacgray" at the best. - Cycling at a mainroad (trying to save myself from the bicyclelanes) cardrivers try to shout me out of the way. - The (very long) seeboulevard is a 1-way road but has No Cyclelane (let alone a 2-way one) ! So portugese cyclists race 2-ways at the 4 meter wide (narrow) pedestriansarea, crisscrossing people at high speed. But if I (non-portugese looking) cycle there portugese start to shout at me to "return to your own country". - Cars park everywhere and all day, also at pedestrianlanes. - Cars park at disabled persons places and at 30-minutes places all day. To save myself I decided to Not Cycle in Quateira anymore. For the first time in all my cyclinglife, so in 45+ years ... The GNR has Nao Problems in Quarteira ! But cyclists (and disabled persons) do ...
