★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The hotel exceeding our expectations. From the friendly and helpful reception, to the restaurant waiters as well as the entire staff. The breakfasts are delightful (especially the mini Pestel Nata's), the dinners were exquisite from the juicy Steer to the delicious fresh seafood (Grouper & Salmon). Their deserts are bespoke.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This review is for the spa only, and it was a bit boring. One sauna that was 45 degrees Celsius ? and one steam sauna that was closed. Friendly staff though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can't properly rate this hotel because I have not stayed there.
I have only visited in order to attend their
Ânfora Restaurant which is open to the public.
However, if one needs a hotel in a relatively quiet Lisbon suburb, this looks well worth checking out.
Nicely designed and furnished inside the old Palace, it has full facilities including spa and gym as well as internal and external pools.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a luxury hotel that actually feels luxurious. The facilities are a thoughtful and respectful renovation over an old Roman site; excavations are dramatically incorporated into the building. The buffet breakfast was elegantly done. The staff were kind and courteous. The room was large by European standards and very well appointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The hotel is right across the street from Belem Tower and majority of the attractions in Belem are just walking distance.
We had a spacious room, quiet and clean. All the facilities for a 5 star hotel available. The shower is exceptional. The bed is comfortable. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is very tasty. The waiter from the breakfast is very attentive and extremely professional. We had a very good experience at the hotel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You are surrounded by two layers of history from the moment you step in. At the entrance you can see the Roman tanks where they produced garum( a fish sauce used as our stock cubes back in the day) and more of the Roman walls can be seen in the spa and the hotel.
The spa has a nice big pool, sauna and Turkish bath and very comfy relaxation areas. They also have a tropical rain shower which was such a laugh. Personally I would have liked some jacuzzis as well.
The next layer of history is the fact that as the name says this was the palace of the governor of Belem tower. There are some nice tiles and a map of old Lisbon in the lounge with a view to ...you guessed it, the Tower of Belem.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Less than a third of rooms and suites have views. Robotic / impersonal service at Front Office / Reception. Quite the opposite at the bar and the restaurant.
Most beds are made by two adjoining Queen single mattresses. Rooms already feel dated, tired - especially carpets and armchairs .
Far from the city centre of Lisbon. Taxi to/from city centre is more expensive than to / from the airport. Public transportation is not really an option in pandemic.
Hotel is not luxury despite the PR efforts of the NAU Group which only ''operates'' the building. Hotel is ideal for those who already know Lisbon well.
This is a solid 4 star + / premium hotel. But definitely not luxury !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Let me set the record straight before I write this review - I spent 7 total years in Portugal. I speak Portuguese as a linguist and I know the country well. I loved this hotel. It is a five star luxury hotel with a superb spa and services. It is clean, well appointed, and staffed by a crew of extremely friendly people who made us feel at home. After 10 days I had to return and my wife stayed to take care of a sick family member for another week and they went out of their way to take care of her. I ate breakfast at the hotel (worth the money) but ate out locally for other meals (you are in Lisbon...) The hotel is built on an old ruins across the street from the Torre de Belem. Pictures to follow.
