Estive hoje na emergência do hospital, sou imigrante e fui muito bem acolhida. Confesso que estava com receio mas devido ao meu problema de saúde não tive opção. Grata a todas desde recepção ao médico. Nota 10 no atendimento. ??

Hospital Distrital Figueira da Foz and Hospital da Gala are the same place. Google needs to merge these two. I went on a Sunday afternoon looking for some kind of urgent care due to a severe sore throat that felt like shards of glass, high fever and dizziness. We are new to the area and I had recently obtained a private insurance card. So I was trying not to go to the public hospital since I haven’t paid into the portuguese system. So I looked at Google reviews and saw that “Hospital da Gala” had better reviews. So, we decided to go there. Once I got there and realized these two places were the same I decided to get care anyway. I paid cash as they don’t take private insurance at the public hospital. Even though I had taken and passed 3 COVID tests in the past 5 days they triaged me (all in Portugués so I used the translator on my phone) and sent me outside to the other end of the hospital to the COVID triage area. The options for waiting to be seen in the COVID area are outside in a tent with the wind blowing hard and about 4-5 degrees Celsius (40 degreesF) or in portable trailers that have 6-8 chairs inside. Most everyone was coughing badly in the trailers, so I waited outside in the wind about 40 minutes. Once called I was treated promptly by a very nice but exhausted physician and given 3 prescriptions for strep throat. I recommend that this place be saved for the Portugués who can’t afford private health care. Unfortunately, there are no urgent care for private insurance in Figueira on nights and weekends.
