★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: It was very authentic Portuguese, rural and rustic. Negative: Not the hotels fault but could maybe do with fly screens on the windows as the room as quite a lot of fly's and mosquitos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: The hotel is very clean and we were made very welcome. Staff are amazing and very friendly and are very attentive making sure that everything is ok. Lovely swimming pool and outside space. The food is extremely good and will definitely return there..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: Welcoming host, fabulous evening meal and great wine. Rooms were very clean. The hotel is characterful and traditional as in the photos. The pool setting was very relaxing with sun and shade. I would definitely stay here again..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: Nothing equals de hospitality of Isabel, our host, at the Hotel Rural. We were moved to a room with a better view witout asking. What we liked very much was the classical Portuguese approach: an excellent dinner, including starters, soup, dessert and drinks for an amazing price. Most important really home cooked, not ´nouvelle cuisine´, but as much as we could eat! The Casa da Eira really exceeded expectations, very good value for money. In some ways it felt for me as if time stood still since my first travels in the Serra da Estrela in the early 80ies.. Negative: I missed a water cooker in the room..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Positive: The hospitality and the charm of the hotel with royal castle walls and the staff. Isabelle and the more senior man in his black/white waiter uniform work so hard all day long. The dinner is an honest and very big meal! You get real value for money. Same for the breakfast. The apartment could be better equipped in the kitchen, but why should you cook if dinner is served in the hotel. If you ask something the staff does everything to make you feel comfortable. The pool is five star quality. That makes your day!.
