ibis Guimaraes Centro

Was good, the night shift rececpcionist, was wonderful, but the air conditioning in the room, was damaged, we couldn't sleep most of the night.

Bonjour Madame et Monsieur, Then We been here for 5 nights and we reserved about week’s Location: Ibis Guimaraes Date chick in: 23-12-2018 tell 4-1-2019 Room nu: 309 Reservation name are: TANIA TEIXEIRA LEITE and would not stay here again!! On arrival the guy Name: (TIAGO) and he is wearing a glasses, at the reception had a terrible attitude and was not at all welcoming, friendly or helpful. The breakfast staff and bedroom staff were excellent and couldn't have been better. Again the night before our departure we asked the same guy at the reception (who seemed like he was the RECEPTIONIST ) a few questions about what time we should organise to leave !! but today Wednesday night 26/12/2018 I was been in dinner outside!! Then when I’m inter the reception with my Family: my wife and my daughter he look to me like with NON SMILE and he Telling me in english ( YOU MUST BUY WHAT U DRINK FROM THE BAR LAST NIGHT !! ) WITH RELLY RUDE WAY and we still stay tell 4/1/2019 to buy the total drink later we’ve non problem with that .. and again he was very patronising and rude. I can't believe a person with this scornful attitude is working as the front desk dealing with the customers. Other than the bad experience rude with the host !! but than I’ve nice room clean, nice wifi network, and other RECEPTIONIST guy Name: Tiago with green eyes was professional answering ,smiley, and also Ana she work here about 14 years she also help us all time as she can and Carlos been good with me.. in the end I’m not happy with this guy second time in Ibis hotel but last time.

Very pleasant due to staff friendliness

The location is very good for getting there by car as the link to the main highway has an easy access. It may also be great if you arrive by bus since the bus station is next to the hotel. In the same bus station building, you'll find one of the best shopping malls in town which can be very convenient. Nevertheless, the Guimarães city centre is fantastic. It deserves to be explored as it is one of the best historic city centres in Portugal and that is not so nearby. However, knowing this, if you can bear the 20 minute walk or taxi ride (I wouldn't suggest to drive around the centre of town) this can be a great choice. The staff, on the other hand, is fantastic. Very well trained and always specially kind.

Its a two star hotel, and yes, its only two stars. The brakfast is regular with fresh fruits. Not high class, but totally ok. The rooms are ok and clean. Sleeping with open windows wkae you up at 7am, a bus station is close to the hotel. Walk in the city is around 10-15 min, to the stadium 4-5 minutes. The bathroom need a update, the plastic curtain needs to change 100%. Also they have to clean the molds in the bathroom.

Excellent option if you are looking for a low cost hotel room in Guimarães. Our room was clean and the staff was super friendly.

Finally returned, after almost 2 years of not traveling due to Covid. Reception was great, I felt so welcome, the staff is so friendly, and always available to help or assist you. I really love this hotel !

Generally i choose Ibis, because I had similar experiences in Brussels or Shanghai. Anyhow, i Guimarães was not so good. Only 1 friendly staff (i think the name was Sofia), the rest only doing thier job minimal, Internet sometimes fail, I do not have a power connection close to working area or bed, well things that I report but that where not solved. Hope the hotel can improve.
