Small and fine church, but probably due to additional exhibition of various artists, a low entrance fee is required.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nao tem como não gostar da história. Em 1491, por doação de D. João II à rainha D. Leonor, Silves passou a pertencer a casa das rainhas, o que terá motivado a construção desta igreja na segunda metade do ´seculo XVI, para servir a Santa Casa da Misericórdia, entretanto fundada. O altar mor ocupa a totalidade da parede da cabeceira. Na parte central vemos a tela onde se representa a “Visitação”, datada de 1727/28, facto comprovado pelo apontamento nas contas da Santa Casa. Existem ainda sete quadros que representam as sete obras da misericórdia pintados sobre madeira no século XVII.
Pisar nestes degraus é pisar no século XVI...é realmente de não entender.
You can't dislike the story. In 1491, by donation of D. João II to Queen D. Leonor, Silves belonged to the house of queens, which motivated the construction of this church in the second half of the 16th century, to serve the Holy House of Mercy, however founded. The main altar occupies the entire wall of the headboard. In the central part we see the screen depicting the “Visitation”, dated 1727/28, as evidenced by the entry in the accounts of the Holy House. There are also seven paintings representing the seven works of mercy painted on wood in the seventeenth century.
To tread on these steps is to tread in the sixteenth century ... you really don't understand.

The church boils down to the altar containing very well preserved religious paintings and a Manueline-style door, but it is worth the visit!
