Só que devido às sucessivas subidas do Rio Lis e que inundavam a zona, foi autorizado pelo Rei D. João I.
Church of São Francisco, dates from the year 1562. Initially this Church was located in the place where today is the Jardim Luís de Camões.
However, due to the successive ascents of the River Lis that flooded the area, it was authorized by King D. João I.
