The Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, or Corpo Santo, and the former convent and seminary of the Irish Dominican priests make up, as a whole, the entirety of a block in Lisbon's square of the same name. In the 18th century, encompassing the Protectorate of Oliver Cromwell, the Catholic Church suffered severe persecution in Ireland, which forced the Orders to send priests and seminarians to Catholic countries in Europe, including Portugal. The first Dominicans to arrive settled in several places in Lisbon, but the arrival of Fr Daniel Dominic O'Daly, OP, the "Frei Domingos do Rosário" of the national chroniclers, known for his diplomatic skill and great influence in the court of D .João IV, led in 1659 to the construction of a college sponsored by D. Luísa de Gusmão. Destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, the college and the attached temple were rebuilt during the second half of the 18th century. The premises of the seminary and convent were sold by the friars from 1856 onwards, and today only the church is preserved as a testimony to this past.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The current version of the church has been build in the 1770s and represent new version of monastery that was destroyed in the 1755 earth quake .
Originally founded in the 17th century by Irish Dominicans to train Irish people for the priesthood, a practice that was forbidden in Ireland at the time.
It has very interesting details on the facade
