From carpenter’s assistant to architect
Even his last names are related to their work.
Born in Cascais, in a family of carpenters and masons, he was influenced by the arts of construction.
He completed a master's degree in Urban Architecture at FAUL in 2012.
During his studies, he worked in carpentry and traveled the world, including a pitstop to study in Berlin.
In 2013 he set out on an adventure through India and Nepal, looking for work in one of his reference studios — Studio Mumbai — where he learned the work methodology of Bijoy Jain, as well as several ancient construction techniques.
After this apprenticeship, he lived for a few months in New York and Perth, where he worked in small carpentry shops.
In a continuous search for artistic knowledge and about materials, he decided to take a Post-Graduation on Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, completed in 2015.
From 2015 to 2017, he developed his projects and worked as an architect and carpenter.
Currently, in charge of Madeiguincho, he uses the knowledge acquired in his academic, professional, and personal journey, along with that of his fathers and grandfathers.
