Some elder farmers don't speak English, but they are always friendly, and try to help. We always found our way through the large offer at very honest prices (much better than the market in Quarteira, where they rip off tourists)

We bought 3 massive salmon fillets for 16 euros.
Salad stuff, potatoes, courgettes...they have everything.
Local butcher just round the corner, along with a bakery opposite both had queues of people...which is a good thing.
Prices are worth the visit and as always the people are so friendly too.

Products are fairly cheap and of excellent quality.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great selection of fresh fish, fruits and vegetables . . . BUT you pay horribly inflated tourist prices. We learned the hard way when we first arrived. They have a superior selection of fish compared to the limited selection at Continente grocery store a few blocks inland, but you will pay over double for the same species that Continente carries. Ditto on the vegetables. The Makro and Continente in Guia have superior fresh seafood selections as well.
