Maria is an extremely open and friendly host and is also very helpful for restaurant recommendations (go to Choco Frito!) and for booking activities around Lagos! The apartment itself was very clean and spacious and the balcony was also a very nice add on.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a great first impression. I booked this place 5 months in advance of the stay and unfortunately and unexpectedly I had to cancel my holiday due to work commitments. Merry's House cancellation policy stated no full refunds available but I literally begged the owner to make an exception due to the unforseen circumstances and the fact that there are still 5 months until the stay, so plenty of time and likelihood for someone else to book the room. I even suggested a shorter trip instead but she wanted to charge me the full 9 nights for a stay of 4 nights or to charge me 50% cancellation fee which is a lot of money.
I was so disappointed with how unreasonable and unwilling the owner has been and how much she values money over people and common sense. If I wanted to cancel a week in advance I understand that she wouldn't have been able to accommodate my request, but with almost half a year in advance, I doubt that she couldn't have come up with a more reasonable resolution.
I do not dispute the fact that the owner is a lovely person in general as I can read this from previous comments but it looks like she loses that friendliness when it comes to money.
I am now left with trying to convince my entire organisation to move dates around and let me go on holiday so I wouldn't lose my money.
Dreadful experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent 3 nights at Merrys House and can highly recommend her place and would definitely come back. 6 stars for the location we were always close by and could easily go to the room and change up etc...
Our room was quite large, nicely furnished and clean.
Merry was a really nice host and left a nice breakfast in front of the room due to covid.
I recommend direct booking with her.
