Excelente fim de semana na companhia da família. Lugar muito calmo, envolto por natureza, passeios de cavalo e piscina. Que mais se pode pedir. Muito bom!

A Sylvie é muito mas mesmo muito simpática! Os cavalos são maravilhosos e o espaço é espetacular. Bom para crianças e para descansar!

A very warm welcome to Monte dos Carotos. On arrival, let the peace and tranquility of the Alentejan countryside overwhelm you. Settle into one of beautiful rooms and relax. Get carried away by the sound of birds and horse hoofs shuffling through the pasture. Monte dos Carotos is a charming homestead set in the peaceful Alentejan countryside approximately 3km from the historical town Santiago do Cacem and 12km from the serene beaches of Coasta Vincentina National Park. The Name Monte dos Carotos is derived from the old name Monte dos Carotos which means little houses. The property was once a lime stone mining site, extracted stones where placed in ovens on site for thermal decomposition, a process called lime burning. Extraction sites can still be seen when going for a stroll on the property. Guests can come to rest enjoying the sun and amazing surroundings through lounging by the swimming pool and strolling through the magnificent cork oak countryside. While soaking up the sun's rays around the pool, one can watch the daily doings of the hostess' horses. The four strong herd is made up of two lusitano crossbreeds and one pure lusitano, with blue eyes, and his friend the shetland pony. The horses roam around on a fenced off three and a half hectares property. Existing stable facilities are mainly used in winter when the horses are stabled at night. So if you are interested in trying a new experience or refresh old memories, book for a riding experience. Hostess Sylvie teaches riding in the evening and on her days off so just inform yourself on time availability. All horses are trained for beginner riders, children as well as adults. At Monte dos Carotos it is also possible to arrange a special sundowner around the pool deck, for the romantic couples. For the younger guests Monte dos Carotos means getting in touch with nature, fresh air, and plenty plants and animals to observe. Bicycles and a go-cart are available to use on the homestead driveway. For the creative ones, paper and coloring pens are also available. A dedicated barbecue area allows the guests to grill their own meals any time of day. A covered patio allows guests to dine outside enjoying a view overlooking cork oak forests and at night the lighted town of Santiago do Cacem with the distant castle on the hill top.

Very nice place to relax. Friendly and helpfull host and good coffee and breakfast. A lot to explore nearby, like beach, Safari/Zoo, lots of restaurants at about a 15 minutes drive. Great place for walking in beautiful oaktree forests.

And what a lovely place it is! We arrived on October 01, 2016, even before Sylvie had officially opened her B&B and already her place was breathing a freshness and tranquility one does not find easily. Sylvie was the perfect host, even giving us a horse riding show. A wonderful experience. Warmly recommended!
