★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L’insieme architettonico che supporta la statua del Sacro Cuore di Gesù si trova al centro della spianata del Santuario di Fatima, nello spazio abbracciato dal colonnato, sulla primitiva struttura della fonte che fu costruita in seguito alle perforazioni lì effettuate, per la necessità di trovare acqua alla Cova da Iria per soddisfare i pellegrini. Di questo primitivo insieme, dopo le opere di rimodellamento della Spianata, rimase visibile solo la parte superiore e la colonna di supporto a quella scultura.
Data l'altezza della colonna, lo sguardo del pellegrino la individua subito attratto dalla vastità del luogo e dal Santuario; la sua posizione centrale richiama la centralità di Gesù Cristo nel messaggio di Fatima.
La statua è di bronzo dorato e l’autore è sconosciuto: venne infatti offerta da un pellegrino.
The architectural ensemble that supports the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located in the center of the esplanade of the Sanctuary of Fatima, in the space embraced by the colonnade, on the primitive structure of the source which was built following the perforations carried out there, for the need to find water at Cova da Iria to satisfy pilgrims. Of this primitive set, after the remodeling of the Esplanade, only the upper part and the column supporting the sculpture remained visible.
Given the height of the column, the pilgrim's gaze immediately identifies it attracted by the vastness of the place and the Sanctuary; its central position recalls the centrality of Jesus Christ in the message of Fatima.
The statue is of gilded bronze and the author is unknown: it was in fact offered by a pilgrim.
