★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Feel blessed to find this Theravada Buddhist Monastery nearby the place where we stayed at Portugal, attended the Vesak ceremony, and walked around the monastery's new land (15mins walking) with Bhante (Buddhist monks), which is still in progress. #22052016

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The monks are diligent in their conduct and there is a genuine appreciation and practice of the Buddha's Teaching. The monastery is currently under construction (as of Fall 2017), so the monks and lay visitors (anyone can visit and stay overnight) are staying at a rented villa. All is offered (donations are completely voluntary), from basic needs such as bed & food to instruction in formal meditation. Be sure to talk to the monks as they are very friendly, helpful, and like to talk to visitors!
