For the framing of the monastery, which on the right side who looks from the front, a good image, still having traces of the past, which gives it a medieval beauty, and the interior is very cozy.

A monastery in the parish of Pedroso in the district of Carvalhos with an atmosphere of tranquility, in addition to the architectural style that draws attention.
The monastery still has mass celebrations.
It is worth a quick pass if your way is from Porto to some city in the south direction.

It was built by the Benedictines in the 9th century, assuming the modernism and the European unity of S. Bento de Núrcia. It was of great socio-political and religious importance in Europe and particularly in the Iberian Peninsula, which still took 4 centuries to regain the territory from the Arabs. What remains, reflects this greatness is beautiful.

The monastery of San Pedro de Pedroso was founded around the year 1000 and adopted the Benedictine rule at the beginning of the 12th century. Since then it has been the home of benitos monks until the second half of the 16th century, when it was suppressed and its assets annexed to the Colegio de Jesús de Coimbra.
Of its medieval past there are hardly any remains in the church, in its walls and at the bases of the towers, especially in the one on the left. The current temple is for the most part the work of the sixteenth century, while the crenellated towers date back to the twentieth, when the church was restored.
