About Mosteiro dos Jerónimos
The Jerónimos Monastery (Hieronymite Monastery) was declared a National Monument in 1907 and in 1983 UNESCO classified it as a "World Heritage Site".
King Manuel I had the idea of erecting a large monastery close to the site where Henry the Navigator had built a church dedicated to Santa Maria de Belém in the 15th century. With a view to perpetuating the memory of Henry and acknowledging his own great devotion to Our Lady and St. Jerome, Manuel I chose to establish the Monastery of Santa Maria de Belém on a site just outside Lisbon on the banks of the River Tagus. The monastery was given to the Order of St. Jerome, which is why it was given the name of Jerónimos (or Hieronymite) Monastery.
The Monastery is a cultural reference point that has attracted artists, chroniclers and travellers in the course of its five centuries of existence. It received, and became a burial place, for kings, and later poets. Today it is admired by one and all, not only as a remarkable piece of architecture but also as integral part of Portuguese culture and identity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Achei o lugar um pouco mau cuidado, e faltou um mapa com o guia para andar dentro do local pois é bem grande. Não compensa comprar ingressos antecipados pois na bilheteria é mais barato.
 I found the place a little badly maintained, and a map with the guide was missing to walk inside the place as it is quite large. It does not pay to buy tickets in advance because it is cheaper at the box office.

É meta turistica,perciò c'è fila per entrare.
In compenso,quasi nessuno visita il Museo Archeologico,la cui entrata é esattamente a sinistra del monastero,io sono entrato gratis anche lì:l'esposizione egiziana mi é piaciuta molto.

It is a tourist destination, so there is a queue to enter.
On the other hand, hardly anyone visits the Archaeological Museum, whose entrance is exactly to the left of the monastery, I also went there for free: I liked the Egyptian exhibition very much.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Os amantes da arquitetura não vão querer sair daí tão cedo, uma construção magnífica e extremamente bem detalhada. Para comprar o ingresso se dirija ao museu arqueológico do lado do mosteiro, quando estive aí a fila estava enorme na parta do mosteiro e não havia fila nenhuma no museu. Ambos os lugares vendem o ingresso pelo mesmo preço.
Architecture lovers will not want to leave it anytime soon, a magnificent and extremely well detailed construction. To buy the ticket go to the archaeological museum on the side of the monastery, when I was there the line was huge at the part of the monastery and there was no line at the museum. Both places sell the ticket for the same price.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't waste 10 Euro for getting inside the monastery. It's not worth it, there is not much to see, I spent barely 30 minutes there. The church area however (free entry) is spectacular.
The locale itself is 5 stars, but I'm giving it 2 stars because of the steal it is to get into the monastery, which is not worth it at all.
