★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After an extensive visit to Rome a couple of years ago and several to Merida recently, this difficult to find, non-advertised diamond of a "boutique" museum is a surprise find. In a typical Portuguese modest and low-key way, in a small village northe of Sintra, the (obligatory) guide (perfect English), demonstrated how Roman grave and other marked stones were recycled over the centuries to other purposes.
From monument to cattle trough, from grave stone to baptism tub. A wonderful supplement to whatever I have seen before. Go and enjoy.

We were amazed with the volume of knowledge you obtain from this visit and the size of the museum was a big surprise as it just kept opening into new rooms all the time! A must!
