I completely recommend a visit to this Museum!! Here we try to imagine what these people had to go through during Man's greatest crime against Man! In addition to the fact that it is also a tribute to the Portuguese Aristides de Sousa Mendes who, as Portuguese consul in Bordeaux at the time, and to the rebellion of António Oliveira Salazar, issued thousands of entry visas to Portugal to refugees who wanted to flee France. , and concentration camps. For those who wonder why this museum is not open on weekends, it is because Saturday, for the Jewish community, is sacred and considered the day of rest and being with the family, the well-known Shabbat. I assume you think it doesn't make much sense to open on Sunday.

Free admission museum managed by the Jewish entity in Portugal. With high security, it transports us through time and space to an era that must not and cannot be repeated. A simple space, but so striking, you won't be indifferent after your visit. It is not very big, but it is to be lived with time and to take the opportunity to think and reflect, listen to the stories of those who went through this misfortune and understand the impact that the people of Porto also had in helping this people! A visit without a doubt, with respect and with the idea that we will leave there a better person!!!!

Definitely visit this very informative and well laid out museum. Close to the synagogue and Jewish museum. Prior arrangements are needed to visit the other two sites.

The first and only Holocaust Museum in the Iberian Peninsula. Very nice staff and very well done, especially as it documents the flight of Holocaust refugees via Porto. All materials are available in both Portuguese and English. Relatively small for a museum, but make sure to save at least 40 minutes for the visit. The line outside can be long; usually the wait is 20/30 minutes, and some of it under sun or rain.

If you’ve been to any other holocaust museum, you can pass this one. There is so little material, it’s a shame they called it a museum and besides the security guy is very rude. Does he think he’s protecting the queen of England? We should be more friendly and flexible with the hours, to reach more people. A space that opens 3 hours a day, it’s not doing much favor to spread the message that it was suppose to.
