Tem expostos elementos das culturas pré e proto-história, sendo depositária de objectos de todas as culturas que estiveram presentes na nossa área geográfica.
Tem também uma excelente e riquissima biblioteca.
Precisava de ser mais divulgado, sobretudo entre os vimaranenses.
Oferece quase em permanência um conjunto de exposições temporárias.
Sociedade Martins Sarmento is a Cultural Institution founded in 1881. The Archaeological Museum "Martins Sarmento" belongs to its valuable and diversified heritage, the main reference for Castro culture in Portugal and one of the most important museums in all of Europe where that culture was manifested. .
It has exposed elements of pre and proto-history cultures, being a depository of objects from all cultures that were present in our geographical area.
It also has an excellent and rich library.
It needed to be more publicized, especially among the people of Guimarães.
It almost permanently offers a set of temporary exhibitions.
