★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Valença é muito mais do que a praça forte e o edificado actual! Por debaixo da actual vila, existe toda uma cidade medieval enterrada! Há vestígios de povoamento anterior Romano e até da idade do ferro. Também se deve reflectir sobre todo o papel da praça forte e dos Valencianos e alto-minhotos para a formação da identidade e território Português. Por último e não menos importante, prestar homenagem aos muitos combatentes Valencianos que deram a vida pela Pátria.
 Valencia is much more than the strong square and the current building! Underneath the present village, there is an entire medieval city buried! There are vestiges of previous Roman settlement and even the iron age. Also it is necessary to reflect on all the paper of the strong place and of the Valencians and high-minhotos for the formation of the identity and Portuguese territory. Last but not least, pay homage to the many Valencian fighters who gave their lives for the Motherland.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Con un indocumentado pasado como casa real («moradia régia»), la esfera armilar hoy sobre su puerta llevaría su construcción hacia 1500, durante el reinado de Manuel I. Muy modificada posteriormente, en 1731 en el inmueble estaba instalada la audiencia eclesiástica, pasando a ser poco después sede del Concejo de Valença, que a finales del XIX pasó al edificio de la Plaza de la República.
En la actualidad alberga el Museo Municipal de Valença, de gran interés –además de gratis–. Reúne varias piezas que ayudan a entender el pasado de la localidad, y cabe destacar la maqueta que muestra la villa medieval, también amurallada pero muy diferente de su aspecto actual.
Hay asimismo que destacar la amabilidad del personal del Museo.
With an undocumented past like real house ("moradia régia"), the armillary sphere today on its door would take its construction towards 1500, during the reign of Manuel I. Very modified later, in 1731 in the building the ecclesiastical hearing was installed, passing to be shortly after soothes of the Council of Valença, that at the end of the XIX it happened to the building of the Place of the Republic.
It currently houses the Municipal Museum of Valença, of great interest - in addition to free. It gathers several pieces that help to understand the past of the town, and it is worth mentioning the model that shows the medieval village, also walled but very different from its current appearance.
It is also worth noting the kindness of the Museum staff.

This Museum, installed within the stone walls of the Valença do Minho Fortress, displays materials, photos, weapons, clothing, flags, models, documents from past centuries. An important stop on your visit in this fortress, with shops, restaurants, hotels is an excellent point for beautiful photos, with a view of the Rio Minho.

The Municipal Museum Nucleus of Valença, is a small museum located in the Fortress of Valença, whose objective is to relive the most significant periods in the history of the population of Valença, through a temporal journey that ranges from prehistory to the present, with a special detail of the medieval period and the history of the Fortress and its vicissitudes. The visit is free.

The lady in charge in the lobby was a bit brutal, she pretended to give to the visitors a technical lesson about how to wear the mask, although she did not know herself how to wear it properly. She behaved like a bad primary school teacher. And, shockingly, she TOUCHED her own mask with both hands, which is strictly not recommended, for obvious health and safety reasons! This authoritarian behaviour spoiled a little bit the visit.
