O Arco - R. Eng. Duarte Pacheco 15

4.7/5 based on 8 reviews

Restaurant in Quarteira, in the old Town  near the Church, since it’s opening in May 83, Restaurant “O Arco” has always been true and innovative with regards to the quality served. We created our recipes from Starters, Fish and Meat courses to our Desserts. From Goat’s Cheese with Tomato, to Crab Salad, Dates with Bacon, Black Pudding with Raspberry jam.

As a little innovation, we compliment the Fish by creating Turbot Fillets with Almonds, Monk Fish in Tomato Sauce served on a bed of Rice or Fillet of Sole “au gratin”. The House Steak with a hint of Mint adds a touch of the exotic; the Pork Fillets wrapped in Bacon or with Pepper sauce is recommended. We produce our own Almond Cake and the Ice Cream, not forgetting to mention John’s surprise dessert. All this without abandoning the traditional Algarve dishes, such as Cataplanas, from the basic with Pork and Clams to the Fish, Shellfish and the Seafood which is our preference. Also available the Fish Stew, Fish Rice or Fish and Pasta. Beef or Lamb Stew are available. All these Specialities require one day’s notice.
Consistency has been our secret.

Excellent find in Quarteira. We started with the traditional ‘couvert’ which came with a duck pate unlike any other we’ve tried in Portugal. We had the monk fish and the fillet steak. Both excellent! The highlight of the meal was the homemade ice cream! The owner is very gracious and knowledgable. Traditional, authentic, and high end restaurant. We enjoyed an excellent meal and evening. Ideal for special occasions :)

My girlfriend and I enjoyed an awesome evening here tonight. The service was incredibly welcoming, explaining the menu and the experience was very personal. Food wise, the meals were excellent, absolutely delicious fish. We have allergies, main dairy, and the owner/chef took pleasure in providing for us and personalized his offering accordingly. Dessert was also great, having his special, also made dairy free. Overall a great and enjoyable evening and experience and I look forward to returning.

A truly outstanding menu curated by a passionate yet friendly chef who provided honest recommendations and talked us through each course. I could not recommend more highly if you are looking for 5 star traditional Portuguese food in a quiet location.

The black pudding and raspberry jam really works. Sounds a bit strange but it is good. Had the pork for main and it was very tender and juicy with a beautiful mushroom sauce.

Happened upon this place by chance and had an absolutely lovely time. Food was amazing, I had the Portuguese steak which was great and my wife had the almond fish which she loved. Staff were attentive and all three courses were great. Will definitely come back next time we are in the area.

This is a great little restaurant with staff that really care about service and their food. They have a good wine list too. Unusually for Portugal, filleted fish is on the menu. If you enjoy fish but can't deal with heads, tails and bones this is the place for you.
