O Bolo Rei merecia uma massa mais trabalhada com a adição da mistura de bebidas alcoólicas, que fazem parte integrante desta receita, e com a redução das frutas cristalizadas e o incremento de nozes, avelãs e amêndoas. No pão falta um pouco de variedade com massas e cereais diferentes.
