However, what let’s this place down is the service - on this occasion and another for a drink in the afternoon - it was near impossible to get any service. They’ll actively avoid making eye contact or coming over to the table and so you are forced to resort to walking to the bar each time. It’s painful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some nice food but of inconsistent quality (no the berries in the yoghurt of your 14,50 eur brunch shouldn't be moldy) and unfortunately terrible service. 9 am, 6 staff on the floor, place 1/3 full and yet they let you sit at the table for 15 minutes happily ignoring you while passing you numerous times. When you finally call for the service the lady barely says hi and seems to be extremely bothered by having to do her work. That makes one a bit uncomfortable. It's a shame as this can be so easily improved but whoever runs this place obviously doesn't care.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Burger was obviously cooked from frozen and was cold in the middle. Sent back and the burger was tepid on it's return. Not a great experience. Staff looked as though they didn't want to be there! Shame really as food seemed to be good value

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was delighted to discover a restaurant and café on the central square in Ericeira called Pão da Villa. The exact address is: Praça da República 12, Ericeira, but you can’t miss it.
Pão da Villa is popular with tourists and locals, and the restaurant has delicious food items on its extensive menu, all at reasonable prices. It is busy all year around. The business is obviously well run by efficient and friendly waiters and waitresses, many of whom speak passable or good English.
The chefs really know how to cook. Some of the best fresh soups are made here daily. Yesterday I ate a large bowl of vegetable soup and today it was watercress soup, for only 1.40 €.
Two nights in a row I ordered hamburgers: Angus beef with Cheddar cheese, bacon, mushrooms, radicchio, onion and tomato and served with hot, crispy French fries served with a garlic mayonnaise.
Coffees and teas are available, of course, but you may also order cocktails, beers, sodas, freshly-squeezed juices or various waters.
Whenever you decide to eat, whether for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, you won’t be disappointed. There is a huge LG flat-screen television on the back wall for watching sports and other programs. There is usually a low hum of background noises and conversations, but generally it is acceptable and not an annoyance.
This restaurant also has delicious deserts and pastries, and there is a pleasant outdoor sitting area facing the square. The tables have umbrellas to shade you from the bright sun or any rain.
Credit cards are accepted.

Easy place to meet someone who doesn’t know their way around town yet.
