★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The real "Miradouros" (viewpoints) of the Alfama are in the alleys and windows of the neighborhood. After the opening of the new Cruise Terminal, the view of the river is completely spoiled by the cruises that stop in front of the city's Pantheon and Santo Estêvão church. Not to mention the noise: cruisers partying until late at night with loud music on weekdays, when residents are desperately trying to get some sleep because the next day they go to work. Bad choice, wrong location, waste of money.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They have a wonderful cruise terminal. The wifi is very fast and toilets are available for those who might have a need to go. The new passenger terminal building is even better.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not passenger friendly. No outside seating along the walkway to the city centre. Not allowed in new terminal to use facilities unless your ship was docked there. Will not get off ship next visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are several cruise ship piers along the river Targus. Smaller and midsize ships can use Santa Apalonia close to the city center. There is a metro stop here and it is 1/2 mile east of the city center. The other cruise terminals include Alcantara by the 25th of April bridge and the adjacent Rocha Conde. Both are 1 1/2 miles west of the city center. Shuttles are usually provided to Baixa (dropping off at either Pracia do Comercio or Praca de Figueira) but you can also take public transit (bus, tram, or suburban train) as well.
