★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good food, friendly staff. We go here every year, for the past 20ish years, and it's still great. The staff actually remembered us from last year.
They serve full hot meals and fresh squeezed orange juice (you get to watch them use a machine to squeeze the juice for you on the spot, so it's extra fresh), though many people go in for the fresh made bread and pastries.
Just tell them you are there for lunch/dinner and ask them what they have and what their specials are. Locals eat meals there all the time.
Our favorite cookies are the ones that are half dipped in chocolate. We usually take 2-3 boxes of them on the 8 hour flight back to the States. They are that good.
Tons of fresh baked good and bread. Get them while they last. There are usually bigger crowds in the morning and lunch time, and then it tapers off until dinner time.
But that also means that lots of baked goods and pastries are sold out by the afternoon. The good news is you can place an order the day or so before and you can guarantee you get fresh pastries that way :)
The shop is usually open everyday, but will close starting at 1pm on August 17, 2016 for a few days while they renovate some things.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Would give it 10 stars if I could. Great food, great coffee, friendly people, reasonable prices. There's a good reason it's always packed ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Meia de leite(50% coffee+50%milk) tasted like hot milk with dash of coffee.
Pastel de nata was not as good. Have had better. Service not up to level.
Feels like place that is living on an old fame.
Not investing in proper quality coffee, not willing to develop business in 21st century pastry alternatives, and not having male uniforms.
Male employees weren't in uniforms which was confusing...as once I sat, a casually dressed man came to me to serve a table... The issue standed out more, as all working ladies had uniforms.
Sweet and pastry wise - they could offer alternatives, some international pastries(eclairs, or red velvet). I mean-no need to fill store with international offer, but one is a possible step towards new market. Can take for example of Brejoense-they have more varaiety on, which take them to different level.
Cego in Azeitão is 100% traditional, but they got the quality right.
Loved most decoration and traditional, classical interior design. Specially with Christmas trees felt posh.
Though I would not return, as the main reasons for me were not satisfacory (good coffee & cake). Though,I would go back for a selfie
